Kassala Youth Emergency Room: Community Health Efforts in the Heart of the East

Joint Efforts for Better Community Care

In a significant step towards promoting community health, the Kassala Youth Emergency Room, in collaboration with the University of the East for Science and Technology, organized a bustling therapeutic day at the Onion Factory, as part of the University’s Therapeutic Week activities. This initiative comes within the framework of both parties’ commitment to providing direct health support to the community and alleviating the burdens on citizens in Kassala State.

A Successful Therapeutic Day with Inspiring Numbers

The therapeutic day witnessed a large turnout and achieved tangible results reflecting the extent of the need for primary healthcare services. The medical team was able to achieve the following numbers:

290 patients treated and provided with care.

24 different types of medicines used to cover patients’ needs.

73 medical examinations conducted to aid diagnosis.

17 confirmed cases of malaria recorded, emphasizing the importance of early detection.

A Higher Goal: Health and Awareness

The goal of this initiative was not limited to providing treatment only, but extended to include offering free primary healthcare and spreading health awareness among community members, thereby fostering a culture of disease prevention. These joint efforts solidify the principle that community health is a collective responsibility, and that cooperation between youth and academic institutions can make a real difference.

Thanks, Appreciation, and Call for Participation

The Kassala Youth Emergency Room extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the University of the East for Science and Technology for this fruitful partnership and excellent technical support. We affirm that work continues towards building a healthy and safe community.
